Thank you for visiting! About the firm Capitol District Law Offices was established in 1992 by Reagan Hale Weaver to help people protect and preserve their rights while resolving their disputes effectively. The firm believes that a lawyer is a professional dispute resolution expert who is more than just a litigator who knows his way around the courtroom. Capitol District Law Offices serves clients as advisor, negotiator, and counselor as well as courtroom advocate. Mr. Weaver is willing to take controversial cases where principle is at issue. For example, he has tried one case defending a state employee who was fired for expressing his objections to the actions of a federal agency and another case representing an employee who was fired after objecting to unsafe working conditions. Some clients will have cases that need to be tried in front of a judge or jury - either to prove a principle, to test the credibility of witnesses, or to have full compensation set by a trier of fact. Other cases may not need a regular trial. Capitol District Law Offices believes strongly in the wisdom of finding the most appropriate way to settle disputes. The most important dispute resolution technique used in the practice is negotiation. The firm has experience with the use of alternatives to regular trials, using arbitration, mediation and summary jury trial techniques to resolve cases. For a detailed description of our main areas of legal practice,
please see the practice areas page. History Mr. Weaver initially began practicing law in 1984 with former
North Carolina Attorney General Rufus
Edmisten, as Edmisten & Weaver. In 1988, Edmisten left to return
to an elected position as North Carolina's Secretary of State, and Weaver
joined with Larry McBennett the next year to form a partnership known
as Weaver & McBennett. However, since 1992, Reagan Weaver has been
a sole proprietor in the firm Capitol District Law Offices. Financial Arrangements Like most law firms, Capitol District Law Offices generally bases its fees on hourly rates. Often, appropriate matters are undertaken for a predetermined (contingency) fee. We work with clients to create billing arrangements that make sense for each case. In some situations, we will not charge for our legal services unless there is a favorable settlement for our client. The client's responsibility would only be to pay for the expenses such as court filing fees, medical records, expert witnesses, depositions and other costs. We maintain detailed records of time, expenses and other costs and provide our clients with itemized statements. Each client's situation is unique and we work with you to provide the most cost-effective representation. The firm accepts both MasterCard and Visa.
